Hello boys and girls! We're back and loaded with heavy choons for all ya'lls today. Well.....not quite. Actually, we have a special interview with the famous Barletta. He has banged out tracks such as Take Over Control (Barletta Remix) - which was named best remix of Afrojacks biggest tune. He also has made major hits such as, Large Marge Anthem (Major Rager) and Set It Off. After getting sent his new EP a couple of weeks ago, we decided to throw some questions his way. Naturally the answers turned out to be amazing. Keep your eyes peeled for this man in 2011...BIG BIG things are coming your way.
EL: So how did you get into the DJ/Producer scene?
It was wearing low cut booty shorts, I couldn't resist.
No, in all honesty it was a simple equation of going to shows, shows and more shows, gathering inspiration and vibes to make music, and meeting a few key people who directed the scene in Toronto which made it happen for me.
You’ve produced some ridiculously good tracks like Large Marge Anthem (Major Rager) and Take Over Control (Barletta Remix), what’s your mindset when you first go into the studio to produce a track?
Cheers! My mindset is basically "How can I get from point A to point B in the quickest and most effective way without half-assing anything?" I have no time to contemplate. Music styles are almost as fleeting as fashion, so you have to try to stay ahead of the curve - reminding people you still exist without putting out shit tracks.
EL: You have quite a few EPs under your belt since you started out (esp. your new one), do you have
any plans to put together an album at some point?
An album requires a revolution, especially in electronic music. I am still growing in musical maturity, but I definetly think there is one in me down the road.
EL: What can we expect from you in 2011? Do you have any “secret weapons” waiting to be dropped?
I am releasing a track with my vocals on it called "The City", out on Promo Records this Spring. It's a heater. :)
EL: Who’s your favorite producer right now? Are there any unknowns you think will make it big this year?
Now and forever = Tom Lord Alge.
As per unknowns: well, he isn't really unknown, but A-Mac (moombahton producer) is going to do big things this year.
EL: You’re stranded on a desert island and only have one album to listen to, what would it be?
The Ke$ha remix album. It would make death more appealing.
EL: Anything you wanna say to all your fans on Electrolights?
Don't do pills because you will end up making really angry rap records. Oh, and happy easter!
Well there you have it folks. Now time for the beatssss...
